Rapper 50 Cent and Cpl. Matthew Schafer, United States Marine Corps

Rapper 50 Cent is no stranger to disrespecting the Marines. Finally, someone is pushing back against Fitty. Cpl. Matthew Schafer posted this on the rapper’s Facebook page:

My Name Is Cpl Schafer Matthew B United States Marine Corps And The Reason I Am Writing This Is To Ask You What The F— You Think Your Doing Disgracing My Uniform.

Should I point out he has Air Force ribbons or that the precedence is all wrong?

  1. Listen in 50 cent, you don’t want a ‘Devil Dog’ hanging off your nose…

Imitation may well be a form of flattery, but there are limitations to the prose.

    Yours Aye.

  2. I guess they could say it’s freedom of speech, even incorrect, fallacious and felonious…to not put too fine a point on it….rather like those false, fake military hero cases….and I would contend it’s still wrong…..k

  3. Don’t all those big tough rapper guys now hang out with little, skinny, effeminate looking, high pitched, pretty boys from Canada?……. Ole Fitty might be secretly having a “don’t ask, don’t tell” fantasy.

  4. Wow, what complete ignorance on this post. Lets get one thing straight. He’s an entertainer. Please tell me the difference between the movie and video besides the length. Nothing. Both are meant to tell a story. To my knowledge this was worn for a video shoot. So can you tell every actor to take the blues off to? Oh and he’s made close to 10 movies and one where he is in the military. And to Blaine, he cant read or write? Bet Midler didnt think that when him and her went back to his old neighborhood to fix up an old park in his neighborhood. The World Food Program certainly knows he can read since he’s trying to feed 1billion people in Africa. The man is involved with many charities. So before your ignorance takes over, ask yourself what have you done lately.

    1. ” And to Blaine, he cant [sic] read or write? Bet Midler didnt [sic] think that when him and her went back to his old neighborhood to fix up an old park in his neighborhood. ”

Kyle, one doesn’t begin a sentence with a conjunction, and one uses an apostrophe in “can’t”, and “didn’t”. Further, it is “…when he and she…”, so I would suggest you are the one in need of remedial grammar lessons.

“The World Food Program certainly knows he can read since he’s trying to feed 1billion people in Africa. ”

Bless his heart, all by himself ? Of course, the population of Africa is only 1,070,000,000. Doesn’t he care about the other 70 million ? Are just the Algerians and Ugandans left out ? Is there a lottery ? Enquiring minds want to know.

      1. Wow, of course the age old tactic of attacking nothing that has to do with the subject. I’ve been published twice, run my own blog and website. My lack of giving a crap on this site is of very little concern to me. And your ignorance truly shows since you had no intelligent rebuttal.

  5. Well I don’t believe that 50 cent should be wearing the Marine Corp. uniform. That is showing a disrespect to them. There are a lot of Devil Dogs out there that are offended. Plus civilians that are offended also. I am sure there is a better way for him to get his point across without disrespecting our Military. I am not a fan of 50 cent, but I don’t believe he needs to be chastised like yall are doing.

      1. Does that include actors also or anyone else who hasn’t served? So like I said to Rhonda above, it shouldn’t be used for entertainment purposes ever. Is that what youre saying?

    1. See disagreeing is fine. But like you said, they way he’s being chastised is absurd. But my question is what about actors who have worn it? A video is nothing more than a movie that’s 4minutes long. And are you saying the uniform is off limits to any one who has never served? By that logic, no one can wear it for entertainment purposes IE photoshoots, magazine ads etc.

      1. You are missing the boat. I have no issue with actors or musicians who wear the uniform respectfully. He is wearing leather gloves and a crooked baseball cap. He is not buttoned up, his ribbons are all jacked up and upside down. In other pictures, he is wearing a colonel’s cover. He’s a chump, one who does not deserve the honor of that great uniform.

        1. Ok lets be clear. He doesn’t pic the wardrobe. Depending on the capacity of the shoot, 9-10xs he doesn’t pick the clothes. Its for entertainment purposes. I respect what the arm forces do. MOST of you protect us from the dangers of the world. That being said, please do not act like you guys are a spotless group. There have been plenty of stories about the military shooting at civilians and things of that nature. Videos of torture to humans and animals. Just the other day a video was released of some sect of military beating some animal over the head with a bat and everyone just standing around laughing. SO you have to turn down the elitist attitude. All your actions are far from laudable. And another thing, there are plenty of professions that keep this country safe. So to act as if a military uniform is some sacred garb, its not.

          1. Sure, let’s be clear. He is wearing the uniform. He takes 100% responsibility for it. Every pitiful excuse is just semantic wrestling. No one forced him into anything.

And we in the military are not spotless. I can name all sorts of ruffians from our ranks. But likewise, our best are unequalled. The ethos of the armed forces (that some folks do not understand) is that we strive mightily for honor, to be better than our faults.

Without a link, I can’t comment on your brutish military “sect” beating animals video. Also, whatever your profession or job, undoubtedly there exists some rotten apples within.

As for uniforms, I feel the same way about firefighters, cops, EMS, you name it. If you wear their garb in any sort of capacity, you better do so respectfully.

The military uniform is sacred. As is our flag. You simply will never understand. . .

          2. I get your position and admire the respect you have for your uniform. I just think him being vilified the way he is ridiculously. The man is a philanthropist and has done dozens of charitable work. He doenst drink, smoke, and barley parties. I just think the vilification is absurd and baseless. He’s performed for troops before so to cal him names like he doesnt respect the armed forces is crazy. Oh and Im a personal trainer whos actually been around him a few times.

  6. Kyle- Imagine you own your own fitness company. And one of your employees rips off the sleeves of your company shirt and gets a neck tattoo of something less-than-family friendly. . . This guy may contribute money to various causes, but fires his mouth off at the most inopportune times. Like at a NASCAR race. (I will salute the fact he deleted his initial tweet.)
