A Minneapolis High School Race War?

Food fights, are they fun or are they dangerous? They are fun if playful and they are dangerous if they turn into an all-out brawl like what occurred at South High School, when the school divided along race and religion lines:

A food fight quickly turned into a brawl involving hundreds of students at a Minneapolis high school on Thursday, forcing police to use chemical spray to break up the melee. Students are saying the melee was the result of tensions between 8 percent of students who are Somali Muslims and the 20 percent who are African Americans.

“I know it’s a pride thing between Muslims and black people,” student Symone Glasker said. “They want their pride back for something. I don’t know.”

Four people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries, including a staff member who was hit in the head with a bottle, according to the school and police.

The 15-minute fracas broke out during lunchtime at South High School. No weapons were used, but about 200 to 300 students were involved, Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. Bill Palmer said.

Stan Alleyne, the Minneapolis Public Schools chief of communications, praised the school’s diversity following the incident.

“South is a very diverse high school…It is a microcosm of the city. Students function together at a high level every day. That is the strength of this school. Our students live diversity every day,” he said.

Stan, you may want to stop dividing the school along diversity lines. Can we not think of everyone as Americans?

  1. A large part of the problem is that there is a certain percentage of Somali students originally from Africa there who happen to be Muslims…and there seems to be a ‘difference of opinion’ that exists between them and other American black students…I won’t even go into understanding what this is all about but I suspect the Muslim students are the violent ones and they don’t consider themselves American and they will not assimilate….that is the history of the ideology…..it actually is a very simple problem; they really need to either assimilate in America or leave…and being Muslim they won’t do either which is unfortunate for all of us….ask Ex Bootneck as to the continuing ideological problems with Muslims in Britain; he should know….and it’s getting worse…k

  2. Muslims present a quite worrying problem in essentially every Western country they emigrate to. Either they align themselves with quite extreme Islam and thus have to resort to living in small closed off societies, or they fall into criminal ways in their youth. From that they either “redeem” themselves by, as previously said find a home in Islamism, or they keep going there.

Then there’s that minority, who take pride in working hard and becoming part of the society they imigrate to, realising they don’t have to live the lifes they left behind in the third world to live in accordance with their beliefs. Both they and the society they come to live in suffers from those who demand that a free society changes itself to accomodate them, are very much hurt by it.

On a similar note, I just read a Times article about printed Taliban death threats. It appears that they are actually being sold by corrupt (well, aren’t they all?) Talibans to Afghans who want to make a strong case for imigration in Western countries. Not only does the cost of the “threat” and the $15.000US trip to countries like Australia make me rather sceptical of the “poor, starving Afghan who’s received a death threat from the Talibans”, it also makes me wonder just how many al Qeada/Taliban sleeper agents are being spread all over the Western world by making their case with a printed and signed death “threat”? If they have no objection about selling them to people, surely they must be using them to allow their own ranks gain easy access to the countries ruled over by the “great Zionist enemy”?

  3. Kris: This sounds naive, but the educational system that used to assist in the process of assimilation is doing the opposite.
Anthony: You have very clear thoughts on assimilation. (And I agree with them.) The challenge is that even the ones who assimilate will support one of their own. I’ve had it happen personally.

    • Of course it is, Navy One…and that is the process of political correctness and multiculturalism which is doing the exact opposite of its own claims….leftism remains wrong and its results are equally miscalculated and ignored by those who insist on it….k

      • Thirty years ago when taking college education classes, I was required to take a class called Multiculturalism – respecting and learning about other cultures and helping students hold on to their culture. There was a big debate back then, but assimilation was pretty much out and multiculturalism was in – as if being an American was not important anymore.
