Pope Benedict Resigns

Surely you have read the news that Pope Benedict XVI is resigning on February 28 after nearly eight years as the head of the Catholic Church. In an interesting historical turn, his family home was used to house the American headquarters for the region in WWII:

Pope Benedict XVI resigns
Pope Benedict XVI resigns

In 1943, while still in seminary, he was drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps as Luftwaffenhelfer (air force child soldier). Joseph Ratzinger then trained in the German infantry. As the Allied front drew closer to his post in 1945, he deserted back to his family’s home in Traunsteinafter his unit had ceased to exist, just as American troops established their headquarters in the Ratzinger household. As a German soldier, he was put in a POW camp but was released a few months later at the end of the war in the summer of 1945. He reentered the seminary, along with his brother Georg, in November of that year.

I wish him, the Catholic Church, and the new Pope well.

  1. My predication is that we will see either a black african appointed, which will be to unite the christians of Africa (do not underestimate the power and strength of the church in Africa). Once the African christians are united they will certainly standfast against the sweeping wave of Islam; the church & politics on the African continent are a powerful ally to each other.

Or we will see an Italian appointed, which again business and politics in Italy is desperate to see as the country is falling apart through corruption and neglect. If Italy falls then we will definitely see the European Common Market collapse. Some thing the Catholic church does not want.

Pope Benedict has been very selective in his twelve years appointing European and African Bishops.

The next Crusade is being organised and we are all watching it slowly form in front of our very eyes. The Vatican is all powerful in politics as well as banking, (very powerful).

    Yours Aye.

  2. So, he deserted the Army and now he’s deserting the Papal’sy (sp?). First one in over 600 years. I guess he wants to spend his last days sipping mimosa’s while soaking up rays in the Caymans.

    1. Geez, CP that’s very cynical of you….he’s the Pope and he is one of the last from the 20th century Catholic scholars of great import…he’s very articulate and knowledgeable in all the areas of Church scholarship and philosophy….no one is more well-versed than His current Holiness …I’m surprised you’d be so skeptical …k

    1. It’s kinda strange and I’m not Catholic either….I just have a lot of respect for the head of the Holy Roman See….he is continuously maligned and impugned as are all popes for their strict adherence to doctrine…and I really hate how disrespectful liberal jackasses are when they spout their own hate about such good men…k
