Identification, Friend or Foe

Brilliant military minds that you are, read the below caption and nod knowingly over the slight error in aircraft identification:

Advanced American fighter- State Press TV said the aircraft was similar to the American-made F:A-18 (pictured), which is capable of dogfighting as well as penetrating enemy air defences to strike ground targets

And it is an F/A-18, not an F:A-18. If you are going to mis-ID it, at least get the wrong name right.
