Poderoso Kombo Kolombia

For all those wishing to book the Mexican band Poderoso Kombo Kolombia for your next party, I am afraid I have some morbid news for you. . .

  1. I work several days a week in Laredo, a town on the Texas-Mexico border. Sad to say, events like that have long ceased to be news around here. In fact, the cartels have recently begun retaliating against members of the media that report such things. It now takes a truly unusual incident (unfortunately, such incidents are becoming more commonplace) to make the news.

Monterrey used to be a wonderful place. It was the Mexican equivalent of Austin or Stanford – a university town, somewhat liberal, very free-spirited and open. Now it’s dangerous to go out after dark, and most folks stay home once the sun goes down. The highway between Monterrey and Laredo TX is a modern multi-lane highway. Today it is a magnet for kidnappings and murder. People travel it in convoys during daylight hours. To travel it alone or after dark is to invite trouble.

And FWIW, I blame the American appetite for drugs for the current state of affairs. Demand always stimulates supply. It’s no different than Prohibition back in the Roaring ’20s.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but this is one of my hot buttons. I’ll get off my soap box now.

    1. My husband saw an article on some mass media network that listed Mexico as having big gun control and one of the safest places to live – snort. Where do they get their information?
