American Guns Cancelled!

Wow, to pick today of all days to cancel a television show. If you are fan of Rich Wyatt, his wife Renne, son Kurt Wyatt and daughter Paige Wyatt, you are going to have watch reruns. Despite great ratings, Discovery trashed the show today:

Discovery Channel’s popular reality show about a family of gun makers, “American Guns,” came under intense scrutiny in the wake of Friday’s mass shooting at a Connecticut grade school, with people flooding the show’s Facebook page calling for its cancelation.

“I know you all have to make money but would Discovery Channel PLEASE consider ceasing to broadcast the show in the U.K.? Sadly your program makes buying/owning guns seem fun, glamorous, even normal,” wrote one.  Another tweeted, “Dear Discovery Channel: it’s not appropriate showing the program American Guns now!” Another weighed in: “With Discovery shows like ‘Sons of Guns’, ‘American Guns’, ‘Ted Nugent’s Gun Country’ etc it’s not surprising how guns r seen as acceptable.”

It seems the critics may have been heard.

1.21 million people die in car crashes per year. And worldwide, they cost $518 billion. Shall we cancel car shows too?

  1. How ridiculous…and what’s even more so is that Connecticut is a blue state with strict gun control laws rivaling New York, Chicago and California….it obviously didn’t and doesn’t work…this momentary outrage happens every time there is such a tragic event….it isn’t the guns of course, it’s the insane person who killed his mother, and twenty-six other human beings and topped it off by doing himself in…I actually think we better take a look at the culture and the nature of men/women relationships because there’s an underlying something there and how boys and girls are raised today that brings up some issues….things like feminism and forty years of treating and raising boys badly…let’s talk about it….k

  2. The people who write such articles need to live in the real world.

I have this little gizmo that came in the same box as my TV and surround system. It allows me to switch channels without getting up from my chair, it really does work; It allows me to choose what I want to watch. So many channels so much choice.

High blood pressure is the biggest killer in the UK & Europe!

I take a chance every time I go out for a drink in my village pub; the barmaids have ridiculously short skirts and low cut tops. This lunch time I was going to complain to the Landlord, and insist that for the good of his cliental he ensures the girls start wearing extra long skirts and high necked blouses made out of old hessian potato sacks.

My heart is all of a flutter now, more tea vicar?

    Yours Aye.

  3. Odd how an industry made on the glorification of violence in movies and TV would make such a decision. A family of responsible gun makers is bad but Jersey Shore is ok though.

  4. It is a sad state of affairs that certain folks are so reactive. Mental health assistance will do far more in the long run than canceling tv shows. . .

    1. I don’t know Navy One; we have an MSM who fails to report facts of any nature that would reflect badly on an political administration that they support (as if those of us looking on can’t figure it out) and then goes completely around the bend when their polar opposites are in power…you tell me how this can be perceived as anything but complete, utter bias…and politically motivated by the way…this is political correctness carried to it’s own illogical conclusion …k
