I am not sure why we have not shot some of the treasonous spies in our military midst. Perhaps I am just paying more attention, but instances like this appear to be more common than in previous decades. What also scares me, the petty officer was from my community.

Russia has a point in instances like this. A bullet in the back of the head. I know he ‘tried to escape while pointing a weapon.’ Prove he didn’t!
I agree. We need more of a deterrent. Twenty years in jail or even lifetime for some of these miscreants is not sufficient.
