Actresses have certain challenges that perhaps male actors don’t have to deal with. For example, I can’t identify with what Evangeline Lilly has to say below. The former Lost star had an interesting confession to make:
“I used to cry myself to sleep wishing I was ugly because of the way men leered at and disrespected me.”
She later told Women’s Health magazine: “I was a pretty girl. It was easy for people to look at me and say ‘F*** you.’”
“People are like, ‘I want to hate you, because everyone else seems to love you.’ But the reality is this: I’m a simple person who’s not interested in attention and who just wants to go about her business,” she says.
I want to hate you? Yikes. . .

It’s people with such attitudes and outward behavior that makes them worthy of contempt by the rest of us…..honey, all you have to do is wait twenty or thirty years and that won’t be a problem… that little self-actualizing moment will ultimately hit you and you’ll be forced to admit that a little humility when it counted would have carried you a long way…..right now there are many, in fact the majority of humanity who couldn’t give a flying rat’s behind what you as a celebrity are, what you do or what you think….and it escapes me as to why celebrities think anyone does care a wit for them….they are so little deserving of it…..this remark just proves how superficial and inconsequential this woman is in the here and now….k
Twenty years will be here sooner than she thinks.
Kris – you tell her! I was going to comment, but you said it all!
Really? That’s a very conceited thing to say. There is so much more to a person than their looks….like humility and a great sense of humor. Looks fade…
Very much true. As Kris said above, she will look back in 20 years and feel stupid. . .
I know how she feels. People say Fuck You all the time to me.
I wouldn’t do that CP…you are well-regarded and respected at this hallowed blog….and why not?? You have a wealth of life’s experiences to your credit…k
And of course, walking around in a dress with your breasts hanging out isn’t exactly a way to deter attention to your looks. Sure there’s a down side to being a attention-whore; people you don’t care for pay as much or more attention to you than those you do.
Ah, the joys of being an actress. Pay those nasty people no mind, young lady. Their opinion should be as meaningless to you as that of most celebrities are to us.
CP: Never at this blog!
ruralcounsel: Yup, hanging out of a dress says: look at me!
Hey, Navy One if I ever saw you hanging out in a dress or out of it for that matter, I’d be staring too…and I’m sure you’d be equally striking….k
Ha ha, I would look ridiculous. . .
