Quizzing the USS Abe Lincoln

On the USS Abe Lincoln, a wiz quiz took fourteen hours? Oooh, I would hate to be an “observer” during that evolution. That is the worst collateral duty in the Navy. You uniformed and prior military know what I am talking about. For the rest of you folks- yes, you observe. Not fun. (I had to tell one observer to give me a little breathing room. Hey Petty Officer, I respect the fact that you take your job so seriously. But I got prime the pump. Can you turn on the water?)

  1. This was never a pleasant duty…a necessary embarrassment for all….you got over it though….and in Panama we had a number of people who got caught…men and women….you could buy the stuff at the local docks…k

  2. In the whole of my 23 year service career I only know of three RM’s who failed to meet the standard, (throughout that time I was only ever tested once).

I have ‘never’ lit up or smoked a cigarette (or pipe), though I was once part of a team that burned a crop of marijuana in Central America; the wind changed direction, which made for a very unpleasant experience….

    Yours Aye.
