The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London imagines itself to be some sort of great peace-maker with its exhibition titled AKA Peace. Various artists were invited to work on AK-47s, like Tim Noble and Sue Wenster. I won’t link to the gallery’s actual site (it is too nauseating with self-congratulation) but rather, show you the apples of their eyes:

An interpretation of an AK-47 assault rifle by British artists Tim Noble and Sue Wenster is seen on display in an exhibition ‘AKA Peace’ at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London.
Ah yes, regular Ganhdis they are with that masterpiece. . .
And don’t forget the pomposity and moral superiority….that’s like a day without sunshine….k
Yeah, they are better people. . .
Right. AKA Peace. Talk about oxymoronic. Emphasis on the moron part.
Hmmm, maybe I should give their address to our local fire department – they’re holding a raffle/barbeque fundraiser 13 October, and for $10.00 one gets 3 chances for an AK …………………………….. YES, I bought 3 ……………………………. the FodGuy’s gonna have a fit if I win …………………………………
On a sadder note, the store providing the AK may be going out of business, so they’ll probably be having a sale …………………………….. whoever heard of a gun store in TEXAS going out of business? I’m thinking the federal paperwork was becoming too onerous ……………………………….

CrewDog: Oxymoron- a well-ventilated idiot. . .
DM: A gun store is giving AKs and may be going out of business? Wow.
Artists are so full of themselves.
I have loved art and that part tends to ruin it. At one time, it was less about publicity and more about talent. I’m afraid I see very little of that.
Hang on, that’s quite honestly BS, even from their perspective. There’s a art piece consisting of a revolver with a “tied” barrel somewhere in the UN, and it’s ~half a century old. So it’s not only lousy art, it’s also a 100% ripoff, copy, whatever you want to call it.
I’ve seen the same idea on Tom and Jerry – definitely a rip off.

So there are even more copies of that one than I thought, and it’s definitely not a new piece of art. Seeing as how who ever made that AK thingy is an “artist”, I think it’s safe to assume s/he was aware of the fact that s/he produced something that is a 100% rip off.
Apparently it wasn’t bad enough to just be a pompous and shout out “we’re morally superior to everyone who doesn’t agree with our reality detached views”, they also had to be painfully obvious with the fact that they’re stealing their ideas from art that’s been around since before they were born.
