Rather sounds like John Steinbeck distrusted dogs or didn’t even like them…how can anyone not love their canines and felines? With a dog, the unconditional love and trust you see in their eyes is never to be found in all other creatures on this earth…and they love you with that blind trust and faith only a dog can possess…cats are different, however and not as dependent, but still when they jump into your lap, you know for them that is ringing endorsement that they respect you at the very least and even if they don’t love you, in time they will trust you to feed them forever.. after all you belong to them and they’ve just put their stamp of approval on you in their own unique and inimitable way…I’ve experienced both of those types of affection from the many dogs and cats in my own life…there’s no experience like it…k
Interesting that Steinbeck wrote “Travels with Charley.” It was a tale of him and his dog. A great book. . .
