New York City had a hell of a weekend. Crime, serious hard crime, was through the roof. A little taste:
The carnage began around sundown Friday on a hot summer’s night, and continued until the sun rose Saturday morning.
Across barely eight hours, at least seven New Yorkers were murdered and another 21 shot, stabbed or slashed across the city — with only three suspects arrested before the blood stopped flowing.
But all of this is not newsworthy (at least to this blog.) New Yawk City’s got plenty of rough weekends around her pudgy girth. What caught my attention is this comment:

These punks never would’ve committed the crimes had they not been all hyped up on sugar and caffeine from those 32 oz Big Gulps.
Of course, this is in response to Mayor Bloomberg’s latest trainwreck, a soda ban on drinks larger than 16 oz.
I rarely ever watch TV news anymore, I always read it in various locations on the Internet. You just illustrated one good reason why: The people posting comments on news articles are cleverly witty – it is more entertaining than a sitcom!
Yourself included!
Right back at ya! : )
The City’s a dangerous place to be …I attended college on Staten Island (Wagner) and that was a little less dangerous…although there was a huge home of a Mafia don who lived not to far away from the campus…I never experienced anything other than an inordinate amount of curiosity about New York and spent most weekends walking around Greenwich Village, shopping and going to some shows ..I grew up in the Connecticut suburbs so being around NYC was an adventure for me…I guess being ignorant has its advantages…God protects the young and the stupid….I haven’t decided which category I fit into at the time….k
Kris: the city is probably less rough today than in the days you visited. Of course, you would never know by the crime stats. . .
I do know that down here in GA I would kill for a large Diet Coke.
I have that large Diet Coke with Lime right here, Coffeypot..I must be psychic or something…k
There will be no killing on this blog, for a Coke or otherwise.
