Z World: Zombies in Detroit

Detroit’s Packard Motors plant, future Z Town?

Have you heard of the plans to turn parts of Detroit into a Zombie theme park?

The upside is that the developers merely need to chain off a quarter of the city and charge admission.

No work required:

Derelict areas of Detroit face being taken over by hordes of ‘flesh and brain-eating zombies’ if an ambitious business plan takes off.

Entrepreneur Mark Siwak wants to create live-action terror theme park ‘Z World’ on Motor City’s run-down and abandoned streets.

Customers would pay to be chased by professional actors and try to seek shelter in ghostly homes, factories and businesses.

Detroit Zombie in Z Town

Siwak said it would breathe fresh life into the rundown city, giving jobs to hundreds, if not thousands, of people.

But critics say it is an ‘exploitative and insensitive ploy’ to profit from Detroit’s problems.

Curbed Detroit blogger Sarah Cox said the plan ‘sounds a lot like all that fun we had during the 1960s race riots’.

She added: ‘It’s nice to know  Z Land is finally going to capitalise on our love of adrenaline rushes and nostalgia.

Apparently Atlanta has something called the Zombie Apocalypse. I can’t think of better PT than being chased by a horde of blood-thirsty zombies.

  1. It’s nice to know that some small spirit of entrepreneurship survives in Detroit.

You need to forward this one to America’s Sgt Major. He’s seriously committed to zombie warfare.

  2. I hated PT when I had to do it and I don’t despise any less now…I do the dance on the treadmill every day, not because I like it but because I must and it makes me feel better and keeps me in better shape than I would be otherwise…unfortunately, I’m not as young as I used to be (young at heart, whatever that means) and I like to eat…so I do three miles a day, every day and I really don’t need zombies to chase me…it’s sort of a silly idea anyhow…as we have already, at least some of us have discovered Detroit has been overrun by Muslims; the population has decreased from about 2.5 million in recent years to 750,000 due to the decline of the auto industry…of that 3/4′s of a million inhabitants about 400,000 are Muslims and it’s a chancy game at best even without the Zombie Park…we’ve already seen evidence of that occurring in Dearborn, Michigan and that’s just a stone’s throw from Detroit….sorry to bring such a negative tone to this discourse, Navy One, but reality oftentimes does intervene and sometimes it’s not too pretty….this is only one place in America this is happening and doesn’t bode well for us….k

  3. I think it’s a great idea…the zombie thing is totally in right now. I would love to be chased by a pretend zombie….

  4. CP: C’mon, it’ll be fun. . .
Book: I love entrepreneurs. They make America run.
    Lauren: That is the spirit!

  5. I love the idea, however I can see something going wrong. Everyone get your pens ready to sign the waiver
