The Three Stooges

The Three Stooges movie, directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly, was released yesterday. I’ll probably pass on the flick, but found the following Three Stooges facts interesting:

-The Stooges appeared in 10 original feature length movies, more than 200 short films and more than 3,000 personal appearances on behalf of Columbia Studios.

Moe, Curly, and Larry of the Three Stooges

-In 1934, the Three Stooges received their first and only Academy Award nomination (for Best Short Subject) for “Men in Black’’ but failed to come away with the Oscar, losing to a cartoon, “La Cucaracha.’’

-The producers reportedly courted mega box office stars Jim Carrey and Sean Penn to star in the film before settling on relative newcomers: Will Sasso (Curly Howard) Chris Diamantopoulos  (Moe Howard) and Sean Hayes (Larry Fine).

The guy from Will and Grace, the guy from MadTV, and the guy from 24? As the Stooges?

  1. went to the movie tonight. laughed all the way through all 3 guys have their characters nailed, updated some gags such as the saw was changed to a chain saw.
the farrellys forgot one key stooge item – food fight

story line was thin, but so were the original Stooge story lines

overall best watched on the big screen”

      1. I never was that crazy about the Stooges, but did have a minor love affair with Abbott and Costello…they were funny…must have been in the delivery…k
